Freeman Court, Archway

4 bedroom Family Home

The Clients

English couple nearing retirement wanting a larger space, ideally a house, from the sale proceeds of their Clerkenwell flat.

The Challenge

Our clients owned a flat in fine school conversion in Clerkenwell but found the mezzanine rooms and open-plan living spaces did not suit their new stage of life.  They wanted a house with quiet working spaces for the day, a spare bedroom for visiting guests add a quiet garden for c.£1m.

The Result

Our client, an architect and member of the Twentieth Century Society (a charity that campaigns for the preservation of architectural heritage from 1914 onwards) particularly favoured 60’s and 70’s architecture.  With this in mind we focused our search on some of the architecturally important post-war estates designed by the likes of Erno Goldfinger.  We canvased the Cheltenham Estate in North Kensington after identifying a fine house recently sold by the singer Neenah Cherry that met the brief.  We searched across parts of Hampstead, Clerkenwell, Islington, Camden and Stockwell.  We identified a well modernised house in Holloway which offered the quiet, working spaces and green garden that our clients valued.
